The Carvin 973 is a 3-way PA speaker featuring woofer, midrange, and horn tweeter elements. This model was manufactured in the 1990s in the United States. The speaker uses drivers made by Eminence, but they are fitted with Carvin’s own labels and logos.

Over the years, these speakers had seen heavy use, most likely from bands as well as visiting DJs. They had also been repaired over the years, but not with very good results. One of the speakers had its woofer replaced with a completely different series compared to the original, and it does not match the original’s technical specifications. The crossover network had also been repaired, but without any actual improvement.
